The practice
Jurisa Legal is a specialist projects practice rather than a general commercial firm with an energy group. The work sits within energy, infrastructure and data centre projects, covering the legal work those projects require from inception to operation.
That work spans the firm's practice areas: transmission and distribution, energy project construction, network connection, regulation and access frameworks, corporate structuring, property, planning and environment, offtake, funding and project finance, data centres and large loads, general commercial advisory, disputes, and governance and board advisory.
Matters are run across practice areas rather than divided between them. The commitments made in an early land option or a connection enquiry constrain what is possible later in construction, offtake and financing, and the firm is structured to follow a project through those stages.
Jurisa Legal acts for network service providers and project developers, for government and government owned corporations, for infrastructure owners, operators and funds, for data centre operators and other large energy users, for retailers and offtakers, and for contractors and equipment suppliers. Work is carried out across the National Electricity Market jurisdictions.
Engagement and fees
Scope, assumptions, timing and fee arrangements are confirmed in writing before work begins, in accordance with the firm's disclosure obligations under the Legal Profession Uniform Law.
Fixed fees are used for defined pieces of work. Where a matter cannot be scoped in advance, an estimate is provided together with an agreed point at which the estimate is reviewed. Changes in scope are raised before the additional work is undertaken.
An initial discussion about a project or a proposed engagement is not charged.

Jurisa Legal Pty Ltd ABN 88 700 566 347 (trading as Jurisa Legal) is an incorporated legal practice permitted under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria) and registered with the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner. An incorporated legal practice is a corporation for the purposes of the Corporations Act 2001, and it is not a partnership within the meaning of the Partnership Act or at common law.
When contracting with Jurisa Legal, a client is contracting with an incorporated legal practice, which is a corporation for the purposes of the Corporations Act.
Where the titles Senior Partner, Managing Partner or Partner are used by the firm, they denote seniority and level of legal experience. Such titles do not signify, represent or warrant that Jurisa Legal is contracting other than as a corporation, or that a partnership exists or is formed within the meaning of the Partnership Act or at common law. Unless a title states otherwise, for example Principal and Partner, those titles do not signify that the relevant person is a Principal of Jurisa Legal within the meaning of the Legal Profession Uniform Law.
Jurisa Legal Pty Ltd is a separate legal entity from Jurisa Pty Ltd. Liability is limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation.
